In dit boek, dat overigens van een grote belezenheid getuigt, keert hij zich tegen Spinoza en betoogt dat de zondeval zinnebeeldig is op te vatten; de oorspronkelijke zonde is niets anders dan de natuurlijke genegenheid van de ene sekse voor de andere. Al in 1679 verschijnt te Leiden de tweede druk, maar nu met de naam van de auteur. Het resultaat van zijn vermetelheid is dat hij door de vierschaar van de Leidse Universiteit wordt veroordeeld tot herroeping van het werk, de belofte onder ede nimmer iets dergelijks te zullen schrijven, een boete van 100 zilveren dukatons en verbanning buiten Holland, West-Friesland en Zeeland, waarna hij zich te Utrecht als student inschrijft (1679).
