Zijn volgende gemeenten waren: Oostkapelle (1789-1792), Zutphen (1792-1797) en eindelijk Middelburg (1797-1829). Daar was hij bovendien 22 jaar praeceptor aan de Latijnse School (tot 31 december 1822) en van 1802 tot zijn dood schoolopziener in het district Zeeland. Op 28 mei 1815 werd hij door Willem I benoemd in de commissie die opdracht had de koning voor te lichten omtrent de meest wenselijke vorm van kerkbestuur.
