Daarna werkte hij enige tijd in Drenthe. Nadat zijn vrouw in 1981 een baan vond in Middelburg verhuisde hij mee naar de Zeeuwse hoofdstad. Sinds 1982 was hij woonachtig in Krabbendijke.<br /> <br /> ==Schilder==<br /> Bakker laat zich in zijn schilderijen vooral inspireren door de Duitser Emilde Nolde (1867-1956) en de Belg Constant Permeke (1886-1952), allebei expressionistische kunstschilders.<br /> <br /> Dick Bakker werkt vooral met olieverf. Hij schildert naar aanleiding van buiten gemaakte schetsen, in olieverf, op vrij grote formaten. De natuur is een veelvuldig terugkerend element in zijn schilderijen. Kreken, de weidse Oosterschelde, oude inlagen, weilanden, bomen en groen zijn vooral de motieven die steeds zijn schilderijen domineren. Daarbij laat hij zich via een sobere schilderstijl vooral inspireren door wat hij in zijn directe woonomgeving - met name de slikken en schorren van de Ooster- en Westerschelde en de Vinkenisse-kreek richting Rilland - in de natuur aantreft. Bakker wordt vooral geboeid door wat het licht doet en legt dat vast in zijn landschapsschilderijen. (PZC, 23/8/2005). Ook maakte hij de laatste jaren vlinder- en vogelstudies. De laatsten op gejut hout.<br /> Het werk van Dick Bakker is veelvuldig op verschillende locaties in Zeeland tentoongesteld.
