Burs]<br /> }}<br /> == Biografie ==<br /> Jacobus Burs was de zoon van [[Gillis Burs]] ([[Aegidius Bursius]]) en werd, na zijn studie te Leiden, in 1612 predikant te Tholen. Veltenaar kon hem niet genoeg roemen als de predikant die als geen andere Tholen in de 17de eeuw heeft gevormd. Hij deed dit mede omdat Jacobus Burs een beslist tegenstander was van het Collegium Qualificatum. In 1627 mengde Jacobus Burs zich in de sabbathstrijd en schreef tegen [[Willem Teellinc]]. Hij waarschuwde tegen een weer invoeren van &#039;een volkomen jodendom&#039;. De joodse sabbath was door Christus afgeschaft.
