Aanvankelijk was zijn werkterrein Zeeuws-Vlaanderen; later nam hij vanuit Wolphaartsdijk heel Zeeland tot onderzoekingsgebied, wat resulteerde in een groot aantal publicaties in onder andere het ‘Maandboekje voor Zuid- en Noord-Beveland’ (1826-1832), de ‘Zeeuwsche Volksalmanak’, het ‘Jaarboekje Zeeland’ en de Middelburgsche en Goessche Courant. Van de Zeeuwse steden heeft hij vooral de geschiedenis van Goes, waar hij in 1852 tot gemeentearchivaris werd benoemd, uitgebreid beschreven. Uit waardering voor zijn werk werd hij door de Groningse Universiteit in 1852 benoemd tot doctor honoris causa in de theologie. Ook was hij lid van verscheidene wetenschappelijke genootschappen, zoals onder meer het Zeeuwsch Genootschap (1819), het Provinciaal  Utrechts Genootschap en de Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde in Leiden (1830). Aanvankelijk was zijn werkterrein Zeeuws-Vlaanderen; later nam hij vanuit Wolphaartsdijk heel Zeeland tot onderzoekingsgebied, wat resulteerde in een groot aantal publicaties in onder andere het ‘Maandboekje voor Zuid- en Noord-Beveland’ (1826-1832), de ‘Zeeuwsche Volksalmanak’, het ‘Jaarboekje Zeeland’ en de Middelburgsche en Goessche Courant. Van de Zeeuwse steden heeft hij vooral de geschiedenis van Goes, waar hij in 1852 tot gemeentearchivaris werd benoemd, uitgebreid beschreven. Uit waardering voor zijn werk werd hij door de Groningse Universiteit in 1852 benoemd tot doctor honoris causa in de theologie. Ook was hij lid van verscheidene wetenschappelijke genootschappen, zoals onder meer het Zeeuwsch Genootschap (1819), het Provinciaal  Utrechts Genootschap en de Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde in Leiden (1830). Ging in 1806 theologie studeren en legde op 9 september 1810 in Middelburg het kerkelijk examen af. Werd korte tijd later benoemd tot predikant in Hoofdplaat, voor welke functie hij ontheffing kreeg van de bepaling dat een leraar tenminste 25 jaar oud moest zijn (tijdens de Bataafse Republiek). Na een drietal beroepingen te hebben afgeslagen nam hij die naar Wolphaartsdijk in 1819 aan. Hij bleef daar werkzaam tot januari 1858, toen hij wegens een beroerte op eigen verzoek met emeritaat ging. Naast zijn werk als predikant vervulde Dresselhuis andere kerkelijke en onderwijskundige functies. Zo was hij lid van het klassikaal bestuur van Goes (1821), lid van het provinciaal kerkbestuur van Zeeland en afgevaardigde naar de algemene synode (1848). Aanvankelijk was zijn werkterrein Zeeuws-Vlaanderen; later nam hij vanuit Wolphaartsdijk heel Zeeland tot onderzoekingsgebied, wat resulteerde in een groot aantal publicaties in onder andere het ‘Maandboekje voor Zuid- en Noord-Beveland’ (1826-1832), de ‘Zeeuwsche Volksalmanak’, het ‘Jaarboekje Zeeland’ en de Middelburgsche en Goessche Courant. Van de Zeeuwse steden heeft hij vooral de geschiedenis van Goes, waar hij in 1852 tot gemeentearchivaris werd benoemd, uitgebreid beschreven. Uit waardering voor zijn werk werd hij door de Groningse Universiteit in 1852 benoemd tot doctor honoris causa in de theologie. Ook was hij lid van verscheidene wetenschappelijke genootschappen, zoals onder meer het Zeeuwsch Genootschap (1819), het Provinciaal  Utrechts Genootschap en de Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde in Leiden (1830). Predikant; schoolopziener; gemeente-archivaris van Goes (1852). Doorliep de lagere en Latijnse school in Kampen, waar hij zijn schoolopleiding afmaakte hoewel zijn vader eerder als predikant naar Aardenburg vertrokken was. Ging in 1806 theologie studeren en legde op 9 september 1810 in Middelburg het kerkelijk examen af. Werd korte tijd later benoemd tot predikant in Hoofdplaat, voor welke functie hij ontheffing kreeg van de bepaling dat een leraar tenminste 25 jaar oud moest zijn (tijdens de Bataafse Republiek). Na een drietal beroepingen te hebben afgeslagen nam hij die naar Wolphaartsdijk in 1819 aan. Hij bleef daar werkzaam tot januari 1858, toen hij wegens een beroerte op eigen verzoek met emeritaat ging. Naast zijn werk als predikant vervulde Dresselhuis andere kerkelijke en onderwijskundige functies. Zo was hij lid van het klassikaal bestuur van Goes (1821), lid van het provinciaal kerkbestuur van Zeeland en afgevaardigde naar de algemene synode (1848). Vanwege zijn exegetische verdiensten werd hij benoemd tot revisor voor de bijbelvertaling van het N.T. Sinds zijn aanstelling in Hoofdplaat (1810) ging zijn grootste belangstelling echter uit naar geschiedenis en archeologie, in het bijzonder van Zeeland. Aanvankelijk was zijn werkterrein Zeeuws-Vlaanderen; later nam hij vanuit Wolphaartsdijk heel Zeeland tot onderzoekingsgebied, wat resulteerde in een groot aantal publikaties in o.m. het Maandboekje voor Zuid- en Noord-Beveland (1826-1832), de Zeeuwsche Volksalmanak, het Jaarboekje Zeeland en de Middelburgsche en Goessche Courant. Van de Zeeuwse steden heeft hij vooral de geschiedenis van Goes, waar hij in 1852 tot gemeente-archivaris werd benoemd, uitgebreid beschreven. Uit waardering voor zijn werk werd hij door de Groningse Universiteit in 1852 benoemd tot doctor honoris causa in de theologie. Ook was hij lid van verscheidene wetenschappelijke genootschappen, zoals o.m. het Zeeuwsch Genootschap (1819), het Prov. Utrechts Genootschap en de Mij. Der Nederlandse Letterkunde in Leiden (1830).
