Ze studeerde af in plastische vormgeving en tevens in grafische vakken. Jarenlang beeldhouwde ze: plastische vrouwenfiguren in steen, maar op den duur bevredigde dat niet meer. In de jaren zeventig volgde Juul Kortekaas colleges tuin- en landschapsarchitectuur in Wageningen. Ook begon ze met het schrijven van verhalen en gedichten. In 1984 vestigde Juul zich in Middelburg. Haar werk is zeer divers: kleine bronzen, beeldhouwwerken in steen, werken in ijzer en in lood (zoals de ‘tulpenblokken’, waarmee ze bekendheid verwierf).
