Burs]<br /> }}<br /> == Biografie ==<br /> Melchior Burs was een zoon van [[Gillis Burs]]. Hij werd op 6 april 1621 ingeschreven als theologisch student te Leiden, na eerst elders gestudeerd te hebben. In 1623 werd Melchior Burs bevestigd als predikant te West-Souburg. In zijn gemeente heeft hij nogal wat te stellen gehad met de doopsgezinde secte van de [[voetwassers]]. In opdracht van de classis heeft hij, na het verschijnen van de Statenvertaling de teksten die in het Kort Begrip waren aangehaald met de nieuwe vertaling in overeenstemming gebracht. Deze uitgave is in het Maleis vertaald. Na de verovering van Sas van Gent en Philippine in 1644 werd Melchior Burs een tijdlang aan deze gemeenten uitgeleend.
